pictor edition and the artists magazine pictor are part of the work of the bremen based artist jan carstensen
the artists magazine pictor is edited since 1990 in irreguarlar time intervals.
pictor is printed in screen print technique in an edition of 100 copies each issue.
so far 13 numbers were produced, each presented in an exhibition.
the entire edition was shown in places like the leipzig book fair and in an
exhibition of the weserburg museum for modern art in Bremen. its archive for
small press and comunication has pictor taken up to its collection.
the invited artists always work directly for
the magazine, work is not reproduced — the magazine itself is artwork.
in the first three issues of pictor were involved up to 25 artists.
number 4 was published to the international printmaking symposium
druckwerk – haut der stadt.
pictor 5 and 7 were cooperational works of two artists each.
pictor 6 was part of an exhibition series with the title housewife art.
the 8th number was part of a sculpture project.
pictor 9, 10 and 11 was a cooparation of 6 artists from Bremen,
Barcelona and Glasgow.
in 2004 pictor 12 was produced. pictor 13 again was a cooparation of two artists:
regina hennen and norbert schwontkowski, published in 2006.
